How Dark Is Your Tan?
Is your tan where you want it to be? In the summer you have the opportunities to go outside with activities like sun bathing, swimming, boating and what happens? Pale legs and shoulders become sunburned. That is always something to avoid. Burning is not only not good for you, it can hinder your tanning. In the winter you may not get as much sun as you need and you might feel the difference. In both cases it’s good to already have a good tan.
Where To Tan
When you can’t lay out, you can to the salon and enjoy tanning at most every other day, perhaps three days per week or so while you are developing a nice base tan. Every other day will work for some while others need maybe every third day. You won’t gain by trying to tan when you are pink so before you go tanning make sure you are not a little pink from a previous session. Use a good tanning lotion that will take care of your skin and accelerate the body’s natural tanning process. Doing this process correctly will actually help you develop a tan faster. Hopefully your salon has a knowledgeable attendant who can guide you but feel free email us anytime you have any questions.
You’ve heard the phrase “don’t tan with nothing on.” This is not about clothing, this is about a good tanning accelerator. Lotion is not just about moisture, a tanning lotion will contain ingredients that will enhance your tanning experience and provide your skin with nutrients to aid in moisturization and anti-oxidants to help fight fine lines and wrinkles. You will want a good brand and might have to try a few to find the right fit. As your tan develops you can often step up to stronger lotions and even add tingle or bronzer to really give your color a boost. If you’ve found a good lotion, your tanning results should noticeably increase, a lot.
Moisturizer For Tanners
After a great tanning lotion, this will be your best friend. Applied in the morning and evening in place of your normal lotion, a moisturizer for tanners will have your skin soft, smooth and primed for tanning all day long. Look for a product that is designed for tanners and watch your tan blossom.
Tanning accelerators and moisturizers for tanners are designed to maximize your tan so it’s important to remember that when you head outside. You will tan faster and therefore need to be careful not to overexpose. I typically recommend tanning for a short time, perhaps 30 to 60 minutes depending on your skin and then switching to an SPF so that you don’t burn.
No matter where you tan you should always protect your eyes with pair of tanning goggles. Should you overexpose, stay out of the sun until it goes away and use a good sunburn cooler. We have several available.
